  • Choose a Durable Roof- While there are many roofing options available, when it comes to portable buildings, we usually recommend metal roofing. Metal roofing is highly durable, and can last up to 50 years, making it a great long-term investment. In addition, metal roofing can be installed very quickly, which makes it an ideal choice for a portable structure like a shed.
  • Choose the Right Foundation- For portable buildings, it doesn’t make sense to use a concrete slab foundation, as the whole point is that you need to be able to move the structure. Instead, we recommend laying down a bed of gravel and installing a foundation of pressure-treated lumber—it will be strong enough to hold up your portable structure, and will break down easily enough when it’s time to move the building to a new spot.
  • Use Wood Alternatives- When choosing materials for portable buildings, we also recommend that you consider alternatives to wood such as vinyl or fiber cement. Wood is vulnerable to water and insect damage, and requires a lot of maintenance to keep in good condition, while wood alternatives are impervious to these effects and require very little upkeep.
