  • Use Your Walls for Storage- When organizing sheds, you ideally want to free up the floor space as much as possible. In addition, it’s a good idea to keep things visible when you can, as this will allow you to find what you need more easily. A good way to accomplish both goals is to use wall storage as much as possible, such as hanging your tools on a pegboard or even installing magnetic tool racks.
  • Use Open Shelving- Continuing with the idea of making everything easily visible, we recommend that you use open shelving in your sheds, rather than enclosed cabinets. Note that this doesn’t mean you have to have everything out all at once—you can store your items in bins, which in turn are stored on the shelves, achieving the ideal balance of neatness and ease of access. We recommend that you label your bins or use clear plastic to make it even easier to find things.
  • Hang Things Up- Another way you can improve the organization of your sheds is to make use of hanging storage to free up more space on the floor, walls, and shelves. For example, you can mount hanging jars to the undersides of shelves to make use of that underutilized space, or hang extension cords or garden hoses from the ceiling or rafters to prevent them from getting tangled together.
